Tidbits of Info - May 2006

REMINDER: May is the MANDATORY TESTING month for ALL current and interested athletes to go through our annual skills assessment - SPARQ rating test & Functional Movement Screening! Skill Assessment Info
As part of the 100% Hoops Basketball Training Program, our athletes are assessed using the functional movement screen www.functionalmovement.com which will help us identify "issues" for each athlete in regards to functional movement at the ankle, knee, hip and back/shoulder. The SPARQ rating www.sparqtraining.com will provide a athletic guideline for each athlete. Both tests will give us the ability to maximize the training format and progressions based on each athlete's scores. The SPARQ rating can be used by the athletes as a recruiting tool since many colleges are tied in with Nike, Inc. and Sparq, Inc.

We would like you to schedule to have your skill assessment done by the time Phase 1 kicks off in June. The testing takes approx. 45 minutes per athlete and costs $40 per athlete. If you are already in a package or on our monthly plan, your testing will be included as a session. You have the option of being tested each month while you are training. We suggest you test 3 times per year.

Sunday Shooting & Offensive Skills Clinics

@The Fieldhouse
Due to too much inconsistency with scheduling our court each week, you will now need to schedule a session with one of our staff for Sunday training. We can be available for training throughout the day with some flexibility depending on the trainer. Most likely, the workout will be performed upstairs on the mezzanine unless there is a court free…

@Plainfield Rec Center
1. Sundays for the remainder of May 2006 3-430p
2.Starting in June 2006 through mid- August, Sunday shooting time will be 1-3p

@IISP
1. We are trying to establish a time for us to run an offensive skills clinic on a weekly basis during the Summer. This has yet to be determined but I will communicate that time for Sunday ASAP!

@Sportzone

1. Due to the lack of activity on a weekly basis we will no longer run our Program through the Sportzone! I apologize for the inconvenience this causes those that did use this site.

I am really getting excited about this Summer's Phase 1!! Myself and the rest of the staff have instituted a couple of changes to the format to add to the strength of the training we offer.
1. You WILL need to schedule your weekly training for Phase 1 per each facility since we WILL limit the amount of participants at each time offered. Typically, we ask for you to consider 3 workouts per week for Phase 1 based on your availability. Two of the workouts will be our Basics Training - Hour one is performance training which will focus on speed, agility, power, reaction and quickness enhancement through core strength and functional fitness exercises. Hour two will be basketball fundamental skills development which will focus on teaching all primary and secondary skills (shooting, passing, defense, rebounding, etc.)
2. Since we have higher volumes of athletes training during Phase 1, I need to ask those who have ANY of our training equipment on loan to return ANY of our equipment ASAP. We want to make sure we have plenty of equipment for the groups per facility. Your consideration is much appreciated!
3. Our Nike basketballs and equipment are at a premium. To help us out, if you (or your athlete) uses one of our basketballs during the training he/she will be fully responsible for that ball until it is placed back in a ball bag. We have lost (18) basketballs since summer 2005 and we simply cannot afford to continue that trend. Please make sure our equipment is used properly and responsibly. Your efforts are very appreciated.
