Feb/Mar 2007 Newsletter
2006 was something special for myself and the 100% Hoops Program overall! It has been a while since I last sent out a newsletter (May 2006) and for good reason. Since then, I have been to: · Shenyang, China to run Nike basketball camps · Portland OR to shoot another basketball DVD for SPARQ, and to talk hoops w/ Nike basketball contacts · Tempe AZ for Phase 3 of Athletes’ Performance Training · Chicago IL to run a SPARQ Rating event and do basketball clinics for Sonny Parker’s Foundation · San Diego CA to do basketball training w/ Mira Costa College Men’s team and training w/ Scripps Ranch HS star, Kenton Walker · Tomball TX for Lutheran HS summer basketball clinic · Las Vegas NV for the annual Nike coaches clinic
For myself, all the travel in 2006 confirmed we have one of the best training programs in the country! I love to travel, but I come back to Indy each time more respectful of what basketball means to you parents, athletes and coaches that have become part of our Program. That energy drives me to get better at what I do and offer! And now that we are right in the thick of another season, we have so many of our high school athletes off to very respectful seasons, namely, Eric Gordon (North Central), Maggie Boyer (Lebanon), Skyler Gick (Benton Central), Aulani Sinclair (Eminence), Ryan Sterling (Cathedral), Corey Wickware (Southport), Brianna Bass ( North Central), Kenton Walker (Scripps Ranch – San Diego CA), Faith Beringer (Concordia Lutheran – Tomball TX), Lauren Taylor (Brownsburg), Kaley May (Avon), Austin Smith (University), Cordell Passley ( Northwest) and many more…
We begin 2007 with more excitement than ever about the potential for 100% Hoops Basketball Training to set a higher standard for training. It also brings excitement for growth from within. The possibility of our own training and performance facility leads the list!! At this time we are pooling ALL resources to make this happen! Please contact me if you could help in any way. We will be implementing new policy and procedure to make sure our focus on development is not compromised. So some changes to how the Program is run are in order. Please refer to the FAQS at the end of this letter for some highlighted policy changes.
REMINDER: May is the MANDATORY TESTING month for ALL current and interested athletes to go through our annual skills assessment – SPARQ rating test & Functional Movement Screening! Testing dates – TBD Please refer to our website calendar in Spring 2007
Skill Assessment Info As part of the 100% Hoops Basketball Training Program, our athletes are assessed using the functional movement screen www.functionalmovement.com which will help us identify “issues” for each athlete in regards to functional movement at the ankle, knee, hip and back/shoulder. The SPARQ rating www.sparqtraining.com will provide a athletic guideline for each athlete. Both tests will give us the ability to maximize the training format and progressions based on each athlete’s scores. The SPARQ rating can be used by the athletes as a recruiting tool since many colleges are tied in with Nike, Inc. and Sparq, Inc.
We would like you to schedule to have your skill assessment done by the time Phase 1 kicks off in June. The testing takes approx. 45 minutes per athlete and costs $40 per athlete. If you are already in a package or on our monthly plan, your testing will be included as a session. You have the option of being tested each month while you are training. We suggest you test 3/year.

For instance, if you have a package of 10 sessions and you attend both the 330p and 430p workouts on a particular day, you will have used 2 of the 10 sessions in your package. 1. The exception would be for those who have purchased the monthly plan in which you get a 30 day period of unlimited sessions. Stand by rules apply. b. Can I use my 100% Hoops package/monthly plan and go to 100% Performance sessions? 1. No, it is suggested you purchase sessions through 100% Performance separately. c. What is 100% Hoops? i. Training based on development of basic fundamental basketball skills and athletic performance enhancement through functional movement training. If you fail to bring payment on your designated pay date in any given month of your obligation, your credit card will be charged on the next business day. g. Which trainer will be training my athlete? i. While I hope that you can establish a personal bond with at least one of our staff, we intend to have our staff be consistently based at the facilities we currently use. There will be some weeks where myself and others “float” to other facilities to make sure we have adequate ratios of trainers to athletes. 1. If you must train with a particular trainer, just ask them for their weekly schedule and make accommodations.
h. What if my athlete gets injured or has a medical event during the training? i. Please make sure you state any medical conditions and/or medications on our registration forms. Cash payments not desired. Payments should be given to the staff who ran the workout. Receipts are available upon request. k. Does 100% Hoops offer refunds? i. No, but on a case by case basis. All involved parties will have to meet to discuss terms of original agreement, reason for refund request, etc. l. How can I check to see when and where sessions are being held?
