Fall 2008 Newsletter

Season of change! October has come and that means Pre-season is about to end for Basketball as October 15th typically marks the beginning of the 2009-2010 Season!!

During the off season we challenged you to display determination for your own skills and athletic ability development. There is still time to do a self evaluation of your personal goals from over the Summer. There is still time to make some adjustments to your commitment to the game to ensure a successful season. But your sense of urgency has to be on high alert. Hopefully, we have done a lot to either eliminate or deter some of the common basketball injuries due to increased Summer activity. If not, please let us know what we can offer to address any concerns heading into this basketball season.

Change is good –
This Fall/Winter there will be several changes/adjustments/improvements to our 100% Hoops policy & procedure that will directly affect your involvement in our training Program:

1. First, please join me in congratulating Yusef Green on being promoted to Assistant Director of 100% Hoops Basketball Training Program effective October 1, 2008! Yusef has proven himself to be a high value component of our team of trainers. He is diligent is his effort to enhance our athletes skills. As we continue to look for more ways to offer the best training systems for basketball players, you will see Yusef step up to the challenge and lead some of our charge.
2. It would be great disrespect if I did not take this time to send a heartfelt thanks to Shon Bolden, Greg McIntosh, Yusef Green, George Milsap, Lonnie Jones, Amanda Davidson and Tasha Cockerham for all of their hard work, time and energy in making this past Summer one big success! I lean on many to promote my basketball training brand and sometimes I don’t extend the praises to those who deserve it most. Thank you !!!
3. There may be a little change in our staff for the Fall/Winter as Shon Bolden and Greg McIntosh have both expressed the need to venture away from 100% Hoops to pursue other opportunities that have been presented to them as a result of all their hard work and passion for the game of basketball.

4. Individual Training P&P
a. There have been several who have taken the opportunity to schedule personal or individualized workouts for their athlete(s). I just wanted to clarify our policy and procedure as to how this should be handled. If you are within a package or participating on the monthly plan, then a personally scheduled workout would entail an additional premium of $25 per each personally scheduled workout. In this case, payment should be made directly to the trainer of choice. If you are not within a package or monthly plan, then scheduling a personal workout would entail $60 per each personally scheduled workout. These personally scheduled workouts should be made directly with the Christopher Thomas or Tasha Cockerham. These payments should be directed to 100% Hoops, llc.
b. Personally scheduled workout should be limited to your athlete(s) only and NOT include any others unless you give the proper consent.
c. Personally scheduled workouts during the Fall/Winter session CANNOT be scheduled during our regularly scheduled training times. So if interested during the week we would have times after 630p and Sat/Sun availability based on facility operating hours and staff availability.

5. Nike SPARQ Training sessions at the Fieldhouse in Fishers and Plainfield Parks Rec Center this Fall/Winter! ! Effective October 13, 2008, 530p and 630p (Fieldhouse) will now be dedicated to Nike SPARQ training for our athletes. In Plainfield, Sat. 1030a we will offer this session as well. Please call/email to reserve a spot. This is a good opportunity for you to continue to work on Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness in conjunction with still getting basketball skills development. The workout will be approx. 60 minutes and each week we will change the focus for each workout. Another benefit of this training time is to either prevent injury as we will maintain our functional fitness objective as well as be able to assist in re-hab of many of the common basketball injuries to the athletes. For more information, please contact Tasha Cockerham at info@100percenthoops.com . Please see Fall Schedule below for details. Same rates apply.

6. Nike SPARQ Basketball rating has been revised to better reflect the type of testing the Professional eligible players go through either upon graduation from college or declaration of their intentions to go professional. We will be offering rating events this Winter to take full advantage of this opportunity to gauge your athletic ability and be able to compare it to athlete’s across the country! We will be very interested in getting as many of the players in this area tested so we can build our own 100% Hoops database of standards per age group/position/grade level, etc. on an ongoing basis. The benefit for you is to include this in your player profile as many collegiate coaches and scouts will use this as a recruiting tool.

7. Nike SPARQ Training continues to build on the strength of offering some of the best performance training product, apparel and training programs in the world. As the Nike SPARQ Master Basketball Trainer I will continue to promote the enhancement of all athletes that we come into contact with. I would encourage you to consider Nike/SPARQ product whether it is in consideration of basketball shoes, training shoes, training shirt/shorts, training equipment, etc.
a. Our Program will continue to provide our athletes the use of the latest Nike SPARQ equipment during the workouts. Please help us maintain the equipment by ALWAYS using them in the proper manner and putting ANY items used in training back in our storage.
b. I suggest, if you are able, to have the athlete wear either a cross trainer or running shoe for the pre-season condition many high school (and off season travel / aau) teams have the athletes participating in. Then, when it is time for basketball practice in the traditional sense, the athlete switch to their basketball shoe of choice.

8. Once your school schedule comes out please provide our staff with it! One of the privileges of being basketball training is the need to actually see how these athletes play in real competition. It also allows us to do our own evaluation of athletes weaknesses/strengths.

9. Check the attached schedule for training times/days per our Fishers and Plainfield locations for this Fall/Winter. Also, please be sure to send your athlete training schedule per each week so I can keep the web calendar updated!

10. Month by month payment option for payment will now be accepted. However, in order to participate in the monthly membership plan on a month by month basis, the rates will be as follows:
a. 1 player $300
b. 2 players $250 per player
c. 3+ players $200 per player

11. There will be $50 charge for early termination of your monthly plan. In some circumstances this fee will be waived (serious injury, illness, etc.)> each instance is evaluated on an individual basis.

Closing remarks

Seems like time races on and I encourage you all to take the time to reflect on what it has taken to get to this point (pre-season). The time you spend working on your individual game whether it be athletic ability or fundamental skills or both is time that should not be taken for granted. Nor should it be squandered away by getting into the season and not putting your newly developed skills and ability to maximum use. We strive to offer you a competitive advantage with our training program. We want you to enjoy the game of basketball when it comes time to compete. But moreso, enjoy this process of development. Hopefully al your hard work and time spent training to play better basketball will produce significant positive results this season. Leave no doubt that you are better now than back just a month ago, or last Summer, or even last season.

Best swishes,
